Why do you require a wedding consultation before booking?

Choosing a wedding photographer is a very personal decision. Yes, you must love the style of the artist but you must also be a fan of his/her personality. After all, your photographer will be with you all day on one of the biggest (and sometimes stressful) day of your life. We require a consultation so that we can get to know each other, making sure we are a good fit for working together. It also gives me a chance to thoroughly explain our philosophy and pricing to the couple.

How long have you been in business?

I got my first taste of photography during my last semester of college at the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism. This one photojournalism elective stole my heart. I continued taking classes after graduation and progressed in the field. I started shooting part-time in 2010. I went full time as a wedding photographer in 2012. We purchased Picturesque Studios and moved our headquarters across town in 2013.

What equipment do you shoot with? Do you have backups?

I shoot with the most current Canon camera bodies and all L series prime lenses. We have backups for everything…camera bodies, flashes, batteries, etc. I arrive to your wedding with a multitude of lenses and gear to be prepared for any situation or equipment failure. I also carry business insurance and liability. If your venue needs a certificate of insurance, I have no problem supplying that.

What professional organizations are you a member of?

I am a member of Tulsa Wedding Society, WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers of America), PPA (Professional Photographers of America), and Weddings of Tulsa. I am also a preferred vendor at The Brides of Oklahoma Magazine. See the my About page for more information.

What should I wear for my engagement shoot?

Avoid busy patterns on your clothing but do consider accessories (scarves, jewelry and shoes can add a nice pop of color). I recommend coordinating your clothing but do not match exactly. Be sure to bring chapstick (for the guys) and lipstick or gloss for touchups. Guys, make sure your skin has been moisturized. Ladies, please do not tan (or get a spray tan) within at least 24 hours of the session.

What is a print release?

If you purchase the digital images of your wedding or session then you will be given a print release. A print release (not to be confused with a copyright release, which we never give out) means that you can only print the images. You are not given the right to edit the photo in any way (unless you are cropping for a specific aspect ratio). The editing process is just as much a part of the photographer’s final product as the actual taking of the photo.

Should I send you a Pinterest board of images that I want?

We do not copy other photographer’s work. If you would like to send a few sample images for inspiration then this is allowed but we will not use it as a check list for the day.
