I love engagement sessions! I think they are crucial in bonding with the couple so that we all know each other for the wedding day. It’s also a time to get photos that truly reflect the couples’ personalities. I had an absolute blast going through all of the sessions this year but I had a hard time picking just one of each couple!

Abby + Ryan

This photo was taken outside of Cherryvale, Kan., on my husband’s family’s property. The old red barn is barely standing, but makes a great backdrop! At the last minute, I decided to enter Abby and Ryan in the Brides of Oklahoma Looks of Love contest. I barely made the deadline. They just had to get the most votes on Facebook and they would win a fancy Valentine’s Day dinner. Guess what…they won! I was so excited for them! Here is the Brides of Oklahoma blog post with their love story.

Melinda + Alan

Look at those beautiful eyes! Melinda and Alan are such a chill couple. They wanted to have a simple session downtown and it was perfect. I prefer shooting in sunny weather and I remember the clouds parting, giving us the most beautiful light the moment we were to start shooting.

Mindy + Tyler

I’ve known Mindy since high school and I was so thrilled that she asked me to photographer her wedding. This was the first time that I met Tyler and it was clear that they were made for each other! We went back to SW Kansas for this session and shot on Tyler’s grandparents’ property outside of Meade. I just loved this old barn with morning light streaming through the cracks.

Miranda + Jeremy

I worked with Miranda for a couple years and again was so excited to be shooing her wedding at The Mayo. For the e-session we shot some photos downtown and some in a field. This one was taken in an alley and I love the way the light shines on the door behind them. Such a fun couple!

Jerica + Jesse

Even though Jerica and Jesse’s wedding would be in Dodge City, Kan., they drove to Tulsa for the engagement session. They wanted a country type session and I knew just the place. We had just attended the Hello Lovely bridal fair at Vive le Ranch, an old barn and beautiful property at the outside of town. It was perfect!

Jessica + Brantley

I absolutely love when a couple wants to do a themed session. Jessica was having a vintage wedding so she wanted to mix that with an outdoor session. She came up with the idea of fishing and I loved it! This photo was taken by a little pond with the poles nearby. This couple was so much fun!

Mollie + Josh

Mollie and Josh are just adorable. We shot this in August so we decided to do a morning session to try and beat the Oklahoma heat. We were in the middle of a drought, but a storm had moved through the night before and had downed several trees and branches. I took Mollie and Josh across the street from the White House Mansion at the beginning so that Heath could clear branches out of the way for the rest of the session. You can never tell from the couple or the photos though!

Zoe + Andrew

Zoe and Andrew will be getting married next year in Dodge City, Kan., but we met in Kansas City for their engagement session as that is where they are living now. It was so much fun shooting in locations that I haven’t shot at before. We were delayed until Sunday morning because of rain the evening before. They are so stinkin’ cute!

Bethany + Chris

This couple was so much fun to photograph. Their genuine love for each other is so, so sweet! They will be married the weekend after Christmas and the reception will be at Meadowlake Ranch, where this photo was taken. We ventured to the top of the hill to their meadow at sunset. Look for some bridal photos in this same spot 🙂 Can’t wait! Bethany and Chris were recently featured on the Brides of Oklahoma blog as the Almost Married couple. Check it out!

Vicky + Aaron

This is probably my favorite engagement shot all year! I’ve been wanting to have a session at the Tulsa State Fair so badly and Vicky and Aaron were perfect for it! I needed a couple who were laid back and not shy as we would be shooing with pretty much all of Tulsa watching. They did so amazing! I loved getting to know them and I can’t wait for their wedding next year in Texas!

Megan + Eric

Megan and Eric should be supermodels…seriously. They have such a sweet connection and I thought this photo captures it beautifully. We did this session at an open field outside of Broken Arrow at sunset. The light was magical.

Janee’ + Matt

Look at those eyes! Janee’ is a very talented photographer and is clearly just as great in front of the camera as she is behind it. She and Matt are so lovely together! I am super excited for the wedding next year and the trash the dress session that Janee’ has dreamed up. Stay tuned, friends!

Ashley + Robert

Lovely! We shot part of this session at Hardesty Library and part at a nearby  park. Fall in Oklahoma can give a wide array of weather and poor Ashley and Robert got a cold, windy day. They did such an amazing job and were so much fun to work with. I just love them!

Veronica + Justin

This couple has so much fun together and their lovely personalities are catching. Veronica and Justin are having a vintage wedding at Gilcrease next year so we thought a vintage themed session would be fun. We talked my neighbor’s father into letting us borrow his 1949 Studebaker and drove it into a field at sunset. Love. This. Session.

Julie + Stephen

Julie loves pumpkins…so what better place to have their e-session than Carmicheal’s Pumpkin Patch? It was the weekend before Halloween so it was packed full of people but we managed to work around them. The weather was beautiful and Stephen and Julie worked it! So cute!

Kendra + Josh

There were too many adorable photos from this session to even count.  Kendra and Josh are some of the sweetest people ever! We were blessed with a beautiful Fall day for shooting and rocked a Chandler Park session. This was one of my favorites. You can’t see from this shot, but the wine is called “Josh”. Love the details!

Amanda + Nate

For Amanda and Nate’s session, we headed for SW Kansas once again. We did a portion of the session Saturday evening (windy…like Kansas windy) and then were rained out and finished the session Sunday morning (cold…like freezing cold). I was so impressed with how they took it all in stride. They are going to be the most chill bride and groom ever!

Candy + Chris

I rounded out my 2012 with a super fun session with Candy and Chris. This couple has so much fun with each other…not to mention they are stinkin’ cute! This shot was taken on Riverside Drive just north of the Pedestrian Bridge, then we headed downtown and to a local wine bar. What a way to end the year! I love what I do!
