Red Riding Hood | Halloween 2011 {Tulsa Photographer}

“Over the river and through the woods…to Grandmother’s house we go.” We love our annual Halloween photo shoot! It gives us a chance to go all out on a costume without even having to find an excuse. This year we went with Red Riding Hood after watching the recent movie…if you haven’t seen it, you should. It was fun to dress a model up but still keep the shoot fashiony in the Picturesque style you’ve come to expect. I really can’t tell you how much fun this is for me 🙂

We started with hair and makeup at noon with my favorite team (Mikala with Makeup by Mikala and Kate with Ihloff’s Salon). We had the actress pulled up on the iPad to make sure the look was authentic. After that, we made the 2 hour drive to some land that Heath’s family owns outside of Cherryvale, Kansas. For the first time, we then got to see the entire look all put together…and it was stunning. Authentic dress, amazing cape, arm warmers, shoes, basket. Let me pause a moment to let you know how amazing my husband is. He spent the last week sewing the red cape that you see in the photos. Yes, I said “sewing”. He literally bought red wool and a pattern and busted out my sewing machine. It turned out stunning. Ok, I’m done now. With our admiration of our beautiful model, Brogan, complete, we headed out to the forest, river bed and trails that is the land that Heath’s mother roamed as a child. So. Much Fun. Brogan did amazing in portraying our character. Cody, her boyfriend did amazing helping with lighting.

Since we had some help with reflectors, etc., we did things a little differently this time. Heath decided to shoot alongside (and sometimes right in front) of me to brush up on his shooting for the wedding we have in a couple week. We both got some great shots!
