Styled shoots are one of my very favorite things to do. They are my way of refreshing my creativity and trying new things in a no pressure environment. It’s inspiring to be around other creative professionals in their element as well. I think we all feed off of each other! My last styled shoot was in December of 2014 shot at Picturesque Studios and was featured in Style Me Pretty. Since that was a couple years ago, I was due for another. I had talked to a few of my go-to vendors and they were up for one so I started brainstorming. One morning, on my way home from a meeting, I was winding along Avery Drive and had what I thought was a brilliant idea to take this shoot to the top of Tulsa. It had to be on a rooftop downtown. The new issue of Brides of Oklahoma had just hit the stands so the editorial that I shot for Mayo Event + Design was fresh in my mind – I knew they would be perfect to style the shoot. Little did I know how perfect it would be! Nicole and Christine blew me away with their  ideas and I fell in love with the design. I love that they included me in planning meetings as well even though this was their baby. It was fun for me to get to talk with the vendors and see it all come together. My experiences working with the Mayo team has always been amazing! Below is a snippet written by the design team describing their vision…
Step into our Modern Garden Party hosted atop the iconic Mayo Hotel. With the outdoor trends of the season, we really wanted this shoot to be whimsical and enchanting within our sophisticated Art Deco walls. The overall essence of our Modern Garden Party was brought to life on our rooftop terrace backed by Tulsa’s urban downtown district. Mayo Event + Design perfectly highlighted an array of vibrant flowers against a bold green-grassed boxwoods backdrop. Atop custom marble linens sets an acrylic tiered cake stand, displaying sparkly doughnuts and playful tea sandwiches. Accompanying the acrylic stand, are gold polka dot dishes and tea cups, which we felt was a modern spin on a more traditional English tea set. To bring our Modern Garden Party to life, our signature Mayo Event + Design bride is wearing both a local Tulsa designer (Bridal Couture by Sonni) and high end bridal artist (Hayley Paige). A cotton candy champagne toast was the perfect end to our whimsical vibe, and made for a beautiful contrast of color.

Can we just take a minute to admire this gorgeous setup. How is this my “job”?!
ÂNot only did these treats look beautiful, but they tasted like Heaven. Don’t ask me how I know.
ÂOne thing that we were aware that could potentially be a problem was wind but we lucked out and had a 70 degree day (in February, mind you) that was relatively windless.
There’s that sunset light that I dream about!
Chelsea, you are gorgeous! You were the perfect model to bring the vision to life!
