I have always said that if I lived anywhere besides Tulsa, it would be Kansas City. I am so fond of the area after spending four years in Lawrence at The University of Kansas. (Rock Chalk!) I was so excited when Zoe mentioned doing the engagement session there. I love a change of scenery! Zoe and Andy both live in KC now but grew up in Dodge City, Kansas. They met working at Boot Hill doing wild west reinactments where Zoe was a can-can girl and Andy was a gunfighter. How cool will that story be to tell their grandkids?!
For the session, we hit several beautiful locations that I could have stayed at for hours a piece. We were going to shoot Saturday evening but the remnants of Hurricane Isaac left lots of rain and flooding when we were supposed to be shooting. At the last minute we decided to do the session Sunday morning…it turned out perfect! First we went to Shawnee Mission Park, then The Kauffman Memorial Gardens. Zoe’s school UMKC was right across the street so we went there for a few photos as well. We finished with a couple photos in front of the Kauffman Performing Arts Center. I had so much fun with Zoe, Andy and their dog Charlie! I can’t wait for their Dodge City Wedding in June! This is one of my longest engagement blog posts ever…because they are just so darn cute!
Zoe’s friend Ariel and this sweet puppy, Leila, came along to hang out with Charlie when we were shooting with just her and Andy. This little lady was beat after the shoot!
Always love your pictures, but the one with their hands and the puppy paw is priceless.
